The good: Slim design; large LCD screen; no protruding telescopic lens.
The bad: Small control buttons; average battery performance.
The bottom line: The T7 will appeal to those who wants an ultracompact camera that has a strong built, and yet take reasonable pictures.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX9

The good: Sleek design; one megapixel more superior than the previous FX8; large high-resolution (207k pixels) 2.5-inch LCD; two new scene modes.
The bad: No manual aperture or shutter speed control; tendency to accidentally press buttons with the thumb; no zoom function during movie recording.
The bottom line: The FX9 is a more promising upgrade if you haven't had the FX8 yet. Be prepared to fork out extra money for a high-speed, high-capacity memory card and an additional battery if you intend to shoot lots.

Casio Exilim EX-S500

The good: Anti-shake capabilities; credit card size; large 2.2-inch TFT LCD; stainless steel body.
The bad: Audible noise generated by the internal autofocus (AF) system; frame freezes during autofocus.
The bottom line: Targeted at snapshooters, this ultracompact camera features anti-shake capabilities along with a host of other user-friendly features.
