Web content streaming has finally caught up with Pioneer and its latest Blu-ray players. The BDP-330 and BDP-LX53 now offer YouTube videos and RSS feeds for it's the company's new products launches and marketing programs in Asia. Internet connectivity is catered for via onboard Ethernet input, upgradeable to Wi-Fi through an optional USB dongle. Another new feature is iControlAV app compatibility for iPhone and iPod touch, which enables users to operate these players wirelessly utilizing Wi-Fi through walls.
In terms of core Blu-ray functions, these Pioneers can internally decode high-resolution Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio surround sound and are BD-Live-ready. The latter requires an external USB storage to be installed for downloading additional movie content. The premium BDP-LX53 also sports an armored chassis for vibration damping, as well as higher-grade parts.
Another key feature for this two players is the firm's proprietary PQLS technology, designed to minimize jitter in HDMI connection to improve music sound quality. The Pioneer BDP-330 and BDP-LX53 retail in Singapore at S$399 (US$320.58) and S$549 (US$441.11), respectively. Pricing and launch details for other Asian countries are not available. Newer 3D-ready models are expected to debut later in the year.
