So you want to be a Formula One driver
Apr 23, 2008
You, too, can get your few minutes of adrenalin rush with the two custom-built simulators in Singapore.
Designed by UK-based BallRacing Developments, one of the two custom-built racing simulators was unveiled by SingTel last evening with much fanfare. According to SingTel, title sponsor for the Formula One race, the two simulators are part of the company's efforts to bring the F1 experience to everyone in the island-state. That's just one of the few activities lined up for the world's first night street race that will take place in September this year.
Rides on the simulators are free and the first simulator will be stationed at the telco's headquarters at Comcentre (near to Somerset MRT), while the second unit will make its rounds around the island. Exact details of where and when were not available at the time of writing. For the average Singaporean, the simulator will allow the drivers to have the thrill of racing down the designated course that takes them past landmarks like the Esplanade and the City Hall. Minus the danger, of course.
