This monitor shows what the laser sensor sees in terms of people around the car (see the red dots). This is one of the navigational systems used to quickly detect the ever-changing surroundings when the car is in motion. The reaction time for the robot car is about 0.3 second (compared to about 1 second for humans) and can detect up to 200m ahead. It is estimated that up to 40 people were involved in the development of the car.
