The "Junior" Stanford Robot Car is powered by two Core 2 Quad processors and features onboard GPS (with up to three receivers) and up to eight sensors surrounding the car. This one shown in the picture is a laser sensor that revolves on top of the car to detect obstacles around the vehicle. The equipment in the car draws power from a car alternator, according to one of its developers.
