Intel's sub-US$400 laptop
May 5, 2006
Intel unveiled its notebook for schools in developing countries, with CEO Paul Otellini calling on governments to spread technology's reach around the world.
Intel says its Eduwise notebook design, unveiled at the WCIT, runs Windows XP and should cost less than US$400. Rival Advanced Micro Devices, meanwhile, used the event to promote its own low-cost PC for developing nations, the Personal Internet Communicator.
