Onkyo announces A/V receivers with MHL and InstaPrevue

Onkyo has just announced that its 2012 A/V receivers will come with both Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) and InstaPrevue technologies. While the actual models have not been listed, more information will be available at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show.

Among the interesting functions offered by MHL include the use of a single cable to stream audio and video while simultaneously charging the phone battery, as well as the ability to directly control apps on the mobile devices using a compatible TV or receiver's remote control. There're currently 18 MHL-compatible smartphones and tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy S II and HTC Sensation XE.

InstaPrevue, on the other hand, delivers picture-in-picture preview capability. This enables users to watch a preview of the content from different video sources instead of memorizing the devices connected to each A/V input. Check out the above InstaPrevue demonstration clip.
