Olympus' Time to Evolve doesn't include new cameras

Rumor blog 43rumors posted an entry yesterday speculating about the microsite which Olympus Malaysia has put up online. On the Web site, it states: "That anxious to evolve? We will evolve in." This is followed by a countdown timer which currently has 10 more days to go. The blog also reported that the Japanese imaging firm will announce a new camera on February 28 at 4pm London time.

We got back to Olympus Singapore which told CNET Asia that the microsite is just part of the company's marketing scheme for the already-announced E-PL1 Micro Four Thirds camera. Also, no new dSLRs are expected on February 28.

So, shutterbugs, no need to hold your breath. That said, the annual Photo Marketing Association (PMA) tradeshow is opening its doors in a few days' time. Check back with us regularly for the latest imaging news.
