New Dell Adamo XPS opens using heat sensor

The Round Rock-based computer company is certainly milking its marketing worth out of the new Adamo XPS ultraslim laptop. After first unveiling it briefly at a recent press event and capturing the attention of the industry with its 9.99mm-thin chassis, Dell released a couple of side profile shots of the notebook a few days later. Now, the company is offering yet another bit of information about the much-anticipated machine.
A recent report on BusinessWeek reveaed that the Adamo XPS will sport a "heat-sensing strip on the lip that, when swiped with a finger, glows white and automatically opens the aluminum lid". While it's too early to tell how this will translate to in terms of user experience, what we can gather from this tidbit is that this notebook looks set to revolutionize the laptop industry.
Touted as the world's thinnest portable, the Dell Adamo XPS is expected to retail at US$2,000. Its launch will coincide with that of Windows 7 on October 22, according to the above report.
