SLU's newest ? and surprisingly traditionalist - signing makes gorgeous, shimmering synthpop with a bloodcurdlingly gorgeous and singular voice that will doubtlessly draw comparisons to siren songsters such as Liz Fraser of the Cocteau Twins, Martika, and Kate Bush. Terror Bird's songs bound and dirge by turns, with an exacting songcraft too intuitive to have been learned. Honing their craft in Vancouver's finest dive-bar music venues while working multiple minimum wage jobs, Terror Bird is real genuine fucking street music borne of actual heartache and longing ? assuredly this is not some hipster vanity project, unlike certain others we'll be nice enough not to name. The cake is a lie.
