Artist Description
From the corners of Ireland to the midlands of England, Dirty Orange Sun(DOS) draws on their diversity to create a fusion of early 90?s rock, metal, and punk. Born and raised in Ireland, Guitarist/Lead vocalist Ken Deedigan arrived in the US in 2001 to pursue a career in music. A few years after his arrival he would meet British/Nigerian bassist/vocalist Zibbie Nwokah. Deedigan(formerly of Amethyst Fallen) and Nwokah(formerly of buboniK) met in 2005 in San Francisco, CA through an ad on an internet site. The band initially formed as an acoustic outfit but transgressed into an electric power-house. Originally a spin-off of Deedigan?s acoustic trio Amethyst Fallen, the duo formed Locust Milk and gradually began incorporating electric songs into their set. Locust Milk?s acoustic focus was short lived due to the band?s desire to pursue a heavy rock trio. Keeping the melodic and harmonic sensibilities from the years of acoustic writing, Ken was able to bring a new dimension to the electric songwriting that has become such a prominent factor in the DOS sound. With the newly found ?electric sound? Ken and Zibbie began working on their new project that would eventually become Dirty Orange Sun. Following months of intense writing the duo began to search for a drummer. Shortly after a long drummer search, Ken met a hand drummer Eric Hyman at a local house party. Originally from Philadelphia, Hyman had taken a break from bands when moving to San Francisco, but was ready to jump back into the NorCal music scene. Shortly after the arrival of drummer Hyman, Dirty Orange Sun was formed. Dirty Orange Sun began writing and playing numerous local shows, and building on a fan base in the San Francisco Bay Area. Reaching the finals of the Emergenza Music Festival in Spring of 2007 the three piece was able to gain much exposure from their explosive live shows and unique song structure. The recent release of their self titled EP in January 2008 DOS has proved that they are a music force breaking barriers in modern rock. Stay tuned for the future of this up and coming band.
