Artist Description
neil raeside hails from the warped scottish border village of canonbie. now living in the city of glasgow, he writes, performs and records all his songs on his own. neil's instruments of choice are an electric and an acoustic guitar, plus the very occassional use of bass guitar. neil uses various guitar peddles, tools such as spanners and screwdrivers and good old reversed tapes to try and create some subtle and pretty sounds. all work is recorded on an old and much kicked around tascam 4 track recorder using a cheap dynamic mic. the 4 track limit prevents neil from being over indulgent when recording. computers are avoided except to convert tracks to mp3. neil sees his influences as the music and in some cases the recording philosophies of artists such as mogwai, low, explosions in the sky, radiohead, arab strap, m. ward, smog, gustavo santaoalla, elliott smith, pavement, sonic youth and ambient artists such as stars of the lid, labradford and windy and carl. neil is inspired to record by the ever changing view of the clyde shipworks from his window, the insipid scottish weather, his frame of mind and the glasgow celtic football club
