Searching for Ground is:

Jonathan Darden-Vocals

James Tunnell-R. gtr and vocals

Tony Middleton-L. gtr and vocals

Brian Smith-bass

Corey McGraw-Drums

SFG started out in 1996 as Blindman's Holiday with the aforementioned except for Steve Ranelli on drums and without the lead vocals of Jon Darden. The vocals were carried by Tony and James at that point.

James met Tony in high school and had a group mostly for laughs in 1988 with another friend Kelley Mobbs. Kelley left the band in 1993 and the group went idle for three years. James and Tony continued to write songs however, and in 1996 after way too many margaritas, Brian, a seasoned guitarist, was recruited to play bass. Steve was recruited later that year and BMH was formed. They played in the club circuit until the summer of 1997 when Steve decided to quit the group. The group went idle briefly until Corey was recruited in the fall of that same year. The guys got going writing lots of new songs but they decided that a vocalist might be the key to really tighten things up. A friend introduced them to Jonathan Darden and after a short two minute audition, he was in. They played the circuits until disbanding in 2000 due to personal issues, but buried the hatchet in 2003 and played one more show at a club called Barnstormers in Montevallo, Alabama that was scheduled to be closed. Searching for Ground closed too as that was the last show, although ending on a good note for everybody. The band goes on though in the form of the BellyGods which is James, Tony and Brian only now with James on Drums. Their music is also on this site.

Most of the tracks here were recorded in late 1998 and they just don't do the band justice as the sound quality is not very good. They hope you'll look past this and enjoy the music. A couple of them were also recorded at practice on a two-track stereo deck, as they never made it to the studio, and they really show the direction of the band. Don't forget to check out www.bellygods.com for more info on the group currently! A reunion is unlikely for SFG, but most certainly not out of the question. Stay tuned....
