The Polite Society began late in the summer of 2003 with two former members of the Solidarity Brothers.  The bassist, originally a violinist, took up the instrument specifically for the Polite Society, while the guitar player and vocalist traded his acoustic guitar in for a technologically-unsound electric.  They have spent the majority of their existence without a regular drummer.  The Polite Society's two principle members are in love, and if they are not already married, they soon will be.
