iPhone expands its reach to China and South Korea

About a month ago, Apple started selling the iPhone in China on China Unicom's network. Over the weekend, the iPhone officially landed in South Korea with KT Corp. What do both countries which recently started selling the iPhone have in common? The device is available with the second largest mobile carrier in these two markets.

We're not sure if it's a coincidence or if there was some power wrangling under the tables, but what's interesting is, these are big huge markets for Apple. According to KT Corp, smartphones make up just 1 percent of all cell phones in South Korea. And China? It has a population of approximately 1.3 billion people according to CIA.
