MySpace launches in India

MySpace India has around half a million users. It boasts Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan as its registered member and is trying to position itself as an entertainment site.MySpace's managing director (International) Travis Katz said:
"We will provide the necessary tools to the people of India to live their lives online and offer a launch pad to the creators from developers to musicians and filmmakers to showcase their talents on the global stage."

India second-largest in mobile userbase
Posted by vcbothraUS has around 256 million mobile subscribers while China's wireless subscriber base is over 565 million. India's monthly mobile subscriber addition rate of over 8 million a month is the highest in the world.

YouTube blames Pakistan network for outage

Pakistan's attempt to block access to YouTube inadvertently caused a system-wide outage of the service. Many YouTube users around the world could not access the site for about 2 hours on Sunday.

IIT courseware on YouTube
Posted by vcbothraOver 20 video courses in science and engineering of the IITs have been on free trial runs on YouTube since last month. As per this report, 110 video courses, spanning 40 hours, will be ready for online viewing in March this year.

Indians are talking and texting less
Posted by vcbothraDuring the July-September 2007 period, the GSM operators witnessed an 11 percent drop in outgoing SMSes, while the CDMA players saw a 15 percent fall in this quarter. Nevertheless the absolute number of SMSes and minutes of usage must have gone up because of the increase in the number of subscribers.
