In the past, they tried to be SuperMan. Now they try to be Niko

They are some sad sad news recently.

2) Teenager killed a Cab driver in Thailand while trying out to copy cat a scene from GTA.

In the past, kids try be Superman and got killed. Now they try to emulate game scene in real life. It is so sad. It will be easy to blame GTA.

However I am thinking, what if the boy like to listen to samiliar type of stories, about robbing and killing, from his neighbour....etc.
And if he also perform such terrible things, will they blame storytelling?

How can this type of copy-cat problem be solved? Is there a good way to educate them, help them to know the difference.

I think EQ course might help. At least, it will help them understand what would hijack their emotion and help to prevent all this terrible incidents. I suggest every school, every clinic, every community meet up place, in the world, should have EQ course.

Releasing inner energy with electronic gaming

Posted by techmulticast

When I am physically or mentally tired, when I feel lazy, I would like to watch TV/Movie. Just sit there and enjoy the downloading of information from the goggle "plate", which used to be a box.

When I am tired of the current society / tired of this crappy world / tired of all those hypocrite, money+power+status lusting human. I am usually be pumped up with physical and mental energy.

And since I do not have the rights to make an immediate impact or to improve the situation in real world. I would jump into another world, whereby one can actually do something. A space/dimension whereby one can do things that we can only fantasize in real life. That is the beauty of playing electronic game. It is a channel for me to release the energy which was pumped up, due to the difference of our inner value/perception as compare to the current society value or perception.

Gaming might be hype at the moment. However watching TV/Movie for entertainment will always big, since most of the time we would be physcially and mentally exhausted.
And if the difference of value or perception, which I mentioned are too big. And the induced 'potential' energy is too much, more than one can contain. Lets hope+pray that the person go for gaming or competitive sports to release those energy. Thanks for reading. Take care.

Reasons for Dad to play scary+violent Video Game with their boys

Posted by techmulticast

1) I like to highlight that violent is not the only way to resolve situations.

2) I believe woman can perform in combat. (My title state Dad and boys because Male Singaporean are expected to defend or protect their family or nation with their life. Hence it more relevant to them, in that perspective)

3) I do believe police or soldier or some combat specialist should be called in to assist us if we encounter violent/hostile situation.

4) I do believe we should always use our brain first and resolve situation in a genlte and win-win attitude.

5) I do believe we should not Kill even when we have no choice (that is just me), because who are we to decide the fate of another living being's right to live or die (especially another human being) However that does not means we cannot defend ourselve violently or react aggressively. So as to hurt, delay or fend off the party who threaten our life.
(no offense to other being but since I am human, the last time I check, I have to state especially human).

There are times, we are required to be brave and aggressive. We have to do it (run or fight back etc) or perish. We might encounter life theatening and scary situation all by ourselves, alone.

Some might believe that years of human evolution would have 'taught' us how to react if we encounter such situation. It should be in our DNA or instinct. However if they are evolved, they might also evolve us back the other way when we are over protected etc. Some will state that our scoiety will prevent that from happening. If you ask me, I doubt that I can survive alone in the Amazon forest. If you do not agree that Singapore is too protective then I think U should stop reading this crap. (Our parents here can even complain because an advertisement give their kids nightmare......omg why can't they take the opportunity to teach their kids how to handle the nightmare instead.)

For example, our body immune system needs times to reach its current level. At infant state, the system might not handle hand foot mouth diease as effective as most grown up. We need time to grow.

Some might said Singapore Army will prepare their son. Please note we only have 2 years++. Moreover it is like pushing the responsibility of teaching our young one, solely to the school teachers. Parents should do their part.

I understand there are lots of people blaming violent game for this and that. I will not debate on that at this post because it will get really lenghty.

I am just trying to present another perception. I feel parents should help humanity to maintain our fighting instinct and also help young one to understand and grow up.

I choice gaming because unlike watching movies. if something scary we can try to shut our eyes, hide behind our chair....etc. In game, you can still hide behind chair but U can also react. If monsters suddenly pop up, your virtual self react. You think, you need to assess the situation fast and react fast. Train your dynamic vision. Where are the goodies/weapon to grap, what should I do next, how do I overcome the fast and furious 'problem', plan how to escape, to survive, to finish the game etc....

Of course kid should know real life does not have replay button, you cannot reboot. Life is percious for you and for most. Have a clear mind, stay sharp and remember what is to be human.

In the opening of the upoming xbox360 game "Too Human", it quoted a sentence from Mr Nietzsche - "He who fights monsters should take care not to become one"

Sharing an Experience, Sharing an Adventure (E3 2008 - Microsoft Press Conference)

Posted by techmulticast

There are alot, being annouced during Microsoft E3 2008 Press conference.

X is usually used as a variable in Algebra. X in Xbox might means gaming box, shooter box, Karaoke Box ...etc. Therefore Xbox is designed and named from the very beginning to be a box which has the potential to hold various possibilities.

E3 2008 is where Xbox shifts to a high gears / transform to show its true potential and do justice to its name. Microsoft has literally level up Xbox experience. Beside games for hardcore gamer, nostalgic gamer, sport gamer, guitar/rock band gamer.... they even have game for those who love TV game shows, those who love to sing or those who love to be in a short movie.

But I think the essential point of MS presentation @ E3, is not about the list of AAA/ 10 out of 10 rating games. It is not about the new Dash Board's look and its cartoon avatar (which quite a bit of hardcore gamer felt, too childish to be used and firing up numerous feedbacks in the forum).

It is more on bringing people (friends/strangers) together, to share an experience or a virtual adventure (hopefully with intense action), is a very powerful and good way to improve a friendship or build teamwork. Playing games in co-op mode, having a 8 party chat, playing TV game show, sharing photos and even watch movies/videos together. I bet this is what MS is betting on. If your friends are in, most likely, sooner or late you will be in. When you are in then your other friends in your social circle will also be in......

Talking about movies and TV shows. Microsoft annouced few new partners and they even team up with Netflix, which means now Xbox Live Gold member and Netflix subscriber (must have both) will be able to access to a huge library of movie and TV show contents. (check out the list at http://www.netflix.com/BrowseSelection?lnkctr=ma08Tbs9 , you will also notice there are Blu Ray Movies available)
Currently Xbox Live Gold Member in Singapore are deprive of having Movies at our version of Xbox Live Marketplace. I wonder will that change in Fall 2008. I am not a movie and TV show guy hence it does not really affect me but I am sure there are still some gamer in Singapore who like movies.

To conclude, I am looking forward to all the hardcore game titles. I would also like to try out the new Xbox experience. By this fall, I hope the avatar would have 'grown' up and we Xbox Live user in Singapore can get the entire Xbox Live package.

Too Human (demo) @ Xbox Live Market Place

Posted by techmulticast

Too Human Demo is available @ Xbox Live Market Place (except Japan). It is a third-person epic action game from developer Silicon Knights and Microsoft Game Studios. It combines the elements of both action and RPG genres.

I have tried the demo (around 1.1G in size). I did enojoy some of the actions, but at the moment, I felt it is an average game. The control of camera/view port need time to get used to.

Anyway since this post is not about reviewing of the game. I will leave it as it is. Give it a try, you might like it. Jump in and enjoy.

For more infor on Too Human, kindly goto
