ITU will not return to Asia next year

Posted by sprocket
Scuttlebutt on the street from a few reliable sources tells me the ITU Convention will not be returning to Asia next year. The only reason it was out here to begin with was because people in Geneva had made it too difficult to go on there this year. The trip to Hong Kong was a way of "showing them" that the ITU convenors are not beholden to Geneva.

But as one wag put it at lunch this week: "The people in Hong Kong are very good at taking advantage of a good thing", meaning everything was very quickly made very expensive.

Add to that, most people thought the ITU was crap.*

3G World Congress, much better. And there you have it.

*Just making it clear that the view that ITU was crap is not my personal view. I am just the messenger. That's what the people I talked to said. If you don't believe it was crap, please let me know. If you object to the word, ''crap," then I can amend it to say, "ITU offered less than desirable outcomes for its tech-savvy participants. But then I would be crap for glossing it over.
