Welcome to CNET
Posted by neofrekoThere are many blog services out there, so why did I pick CNET? Among others, CNET is a focused environment. It's a high speed train owning its own track. I need to reach readers and peers to share my thought with. Honestly, I feel a bit dissapointed that many ideas I throw at my blog.neofreko.com didn't generate much discussion. I may have been posting not so brilliant tpoic, but I believe it's not very dull as well. So, I have an assumption that I didn't have enough peers, or I may just posted it in the wrong place.
So here I am, jumping into the fast lane, hoping to catch more discussion with all of you. And as my introduction, I copied over a post in my blog for you. Get your hand on your keyboard and get ready to type in your perspective here. Get set, go!
Poor's Man Guide to Unleash Your Social App
Recently Joyent has offered its Accelerator for free, if only you implements OpenSocial.
Although it’s free for only 6 months, it is still a great opportunity
to leverage your social onto new level. I know, many social app, especially developed by third world people (the underpaid) face a
terrible nightmare of inability to scale. There are some, maybe, has a
luxury of owning their own server. But for some (most) other, dedicated
server or VPS is just beyond their budget (my best finding for VPS is
Rp150000/month).
For those waiting for a free ride, this is your moment. Take Joyent
offer, implements OpenSocial and determine within your free 6 months:
Would a VPS or dedicated really worth an investment?
I heard Shindig
is a great tool to start impelementing OpenSocial. Shindig is an Apache
Incubator project. But not only Java, it’s also supporting PHP. Great isn’t it?
Further, I heard EC2
is quite cheap ($0.100/hour-instance). If you can really take off with
your free 6 months at Joyent, instead of continuing on Joyent you can
always consider EC2. There’s also scaling tool compatible to EC2
architecture called Scalr.
So, there are two ideas you can found here:
- Host your app over Joyent or EC2. Go international!
- VPS is a wet market. Refine your business model, grab potential early adopters!
PS:
Joyent offers free service as well for Facebook App developer!
