Sony's nimble TV wizard

Posted by mobileojisan
After the moronic rootkit fiasco (a corporate suicide attempt, rather), nobody trusts Sony anymore.

But believe me. Sony has still a few attractive products stashed in its pocket. Though these beauties never sell on the PlayStation level.

Take the LF-PK1 Location-Free Base Station Pack. This is a network TV tuner. Video signals are encoded into MPEG-4 in real time and thrown into TCP/IP network.

You can watch the silly TV show on your laptop in the loo (via 802.11a/b/g wireless), on the desktop hooked to your home LAN, or, in a faraway hideout where a broadband connection is available.

Akihabara metamorphosin'

Posted by mobileojisan
Yo, my dear gadget freaks in fine Singapore! Our favorite playground, Akihabara, is changing its shape quickly.

Mind-boggling Akihabara keeps changing

First, the black hole of Akiba, former veggie wholesale market, is gone forever. There stands two high-rises, digital firms and egghead spots. Then came along a new railway, Tsukuba Express, which leads you into Tsukuba high-tech research city somewhere 100km north of Akiba.Read more »

Kanji reads "Yu-E-Su-Bi-MaMoRi"

Yours truly, too, has two more optional charms somewhere. One of them, just hanging behind the RS232C port of my desktop, is supposed to protect the computer from untimely system failure. Read more »

Akihabara gone maniac

Posted by mobileojisan
Yes, I'm talking about Akiba's newest obsession, those perversive Maid Cafes. New ones are popping up every 3 minutes recently, just like the mushrooms after autumn drizzling.

Step into one of them. Young and pretty girls in kinky French maid attire whisper to you: "O honorable master, welcome back again..." Irasshai-mase, go-shujin-sama!

The evolution of rodents goes on

Posted by mobileojisan
Yes, even a lowly mouse can slowly proceed up the evolution ladder. The red or yellow LED optical mouse has, so far, completely replaced that primitive wheel mouse. That's a pretty natural Darwinian process, as you know.

Herd of buffalo laser mice heading to market

Now, the optical mouse will be in danger of extinction this time. What will come next? The laser mouse, of course!Read more »
