ROBO-ONE battles of 2007 kicks off

Posted by mobileojisan
The main robot battle event of this year (actually, twice-a-year event), the 11th ROBO-ONE in Tokyo was held on March 24-25 in the dead center of Tokyo at the Korakuen arena. ROBO-ONE is fought by bi-pedal humanoid robots to the death (to the demolition, rather).

ROBO-ONE was named after the human version of battle, K-1 WORLD GP. There were two classes, lightweighters and heavies. Altogether, 32 bi-pedal robots entered into the battle ground, after having won in the local ROBO-ONE events, passed the pre-battle qualification test, and gone through 2 minutes of self-presentation with inflated (robotic) ego.

In the lightweight class was Chrome-Kid (38cm tall, 2.61kg) manufactured and controlled by KUPAKUMA-san. Movie clip of the final are here. Chrome-Kid plays football skillfully, too. A real athletic type.

In the heavies category, Yokozuna Great Shiranui II (40cm tall, 2.9kg) won the championship in a pitched battle with Ivre the Armstrong. The final battle scene is here.

And, finally, the battle of lightweight and heavyweight champions, though there wasn't much difference of weight and size.
Yokozuna Shiranui won the duel and climbed onto the throne of the 11th ROBO-ONE.
