The end of the YouTube drama in Indonesia

Last week, Indonesian users suddenly either could not view or upload videos onto YouTube, Google's online video-sharing service. The country's Government already blocked YouTube, targeting the 17-minute Fitna which splices images of terrorist attacks with quotes from the Koran.

The Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders has sparked protests in several Muslim countries since it posted on the Internet last month. Read more »

Two days, two Web sites defaced

During two days, there were two Web sites hacked, apparently in reaction to Indonesia's new online pornography law. The official Web site of the Communications and Information Ministry was hacked for several hours Thursday and the Golkar Party's official Web site was defaced Friday.

Indonesia's CDMA fast growing

Ah yes. Nowadays, CDMA2000 1x is no longer a new kid on the block in Indonesia's mobile industry The Jakarta Post (its print edition) reported today that PT Bakrie Telecom, the publicly listed telecom behind CDMA mobile brand Esia, saw its subscriber base increase 147 percent last year.

BlackBerry gains popularity in Indonesia

Developed by the Canadian company Research In Motion (RIM), BlackBerry has started to gain popularity in Indonesia.

The country's biggest operators, Indosat, Telkomsel and Excelcom, already launched this service.
