Indonesia's spectacular moves on blogosphere

Indonesia has spectacular moves on today's blogosphore: Jakarta, Indonesia's capital city, is one the top 30 cities for blog postings and comments according to BusinessWeek. The top 30 blogging cities were divided into three tiers by levels of activity.

There are four blogging cities in Asia.

Interestingly, the region has four representatives: Jakarta, Beijing, and Mumbai; special for Singapore, this small country with massive people and technology stands on the second level. Three other cities are on third.

Indonesian bloggers launch Asia Blog Network

There is a movement within the Indonesian blogosphere: Some Indonesian bloggers, including myself, have launched a blog network called Asia Blog Network or AsiaBlogging.com

Based in Jakarta, Indonesia, AsiaBlogging.com is a global new media network featuring more than 70 blogs (in the first phase) on wide-ranging topics from movies and music to technology, sports and lifestyle.

AsiaBlogging.com invites bloggers, especially Asian bloggers, to contribute their passionate postings. For this first phase, mostly Indonesian bloggers have started to blog here.

Indonesia's CDMA subscribers surpass 10 million

Over four years ago, CDMA2000 1x was still considered a new kid on the block in Indonesia's telecommunications market due to the high number of GSM subscribers at the time. Today, Indonesia has emerged as a new hotbed for CDMA2000 1x deployments due to the rising number of subscribers, high numbers of operators, and the market's positive response.

There are about 60 million people using mobile phones in the country at present, and almost 10 million of them are on CDMA2000.

Indonesia's female violinist goes blogging

Maylaffayza is one of the few Indonesian celebrities who maximises the use of technology, particularly in blogging, social networking and multimedia sharing. She uses her blog site (maylaffayza.multiply.com) and Flickr account (http://www.flickr.com/photos/maylaffayza) as her expression as well as marketing tools.

In the Indonesian music industry, Maylaffayza stands out for being the only solo pop-classic crossover female violinist.

And I really love to hear this good news: She was featured in a full-page spread in The Star, Malaysia's largest daily, on Sunday. She, as usual, always mentions that her activity in blogging is very important in her life:

Indonesia's island names are sold out?

It's quite interesting to discover that some Indonesian island names are picked up as favorite technology-related brands.

After Java--where Indonesia's capital, Jakarta, is located--was picked-up as the Sun's platform technology. I was just surprised to find that Sumatra, another big island in the country, was also used as a technology-related product: Sumatra PDF. Read more »
