"NexianBerry", the hottest new comer in Indonesia

Posted by budip
What's "the hottest mobile brand" in Indonesia's cellular market this week? Nexian's NX-G900! What?! Yes, it's the Chinese-manufactured Nexian NX-G900, a dual-band GSM phone that helps users easily access Facebook and chatting services such as eBuddy, MSN, Gtalk and Yahoo! Messenger.

So what's the deal? At the 2009 Indonesia Cellular Show (ICS), the country's biggest telco event which ended Sunday, Nexian's NX-G900 has been sold out! Hundreds of people have been lining up at the Nexian booth.

The Jakarta Post wrote that for the price of Rp999,000 (about US$100), customers took home the mobile phone. BlackBerry units cost at least three times more, as a comparison.

Even though the handset has nothing to do with the BlackBerry Internet Services (since it's a bundled package offered along with a common GSM card), the NX-G900's QWERTY design resembles the BlackBerry Bold, which is why the phone is being called the "NexianBerry" here in Indonesia.
