Indonesian bloggers launch Asia Blog Network
Posted by budipBased in Jakarta, Indonesia, AsiaBlogging.com is a global new media network featuring more than 70 blogs (in the first phase) on wide-ranging topics from movies and music to technology, sports and lifestyle.
AsiaBlogging.com invites bloggers, especially Asian bloggers, to contribute their passionate postings. For this first phase, mostly Indonesian bloggers have started to blog here.

Why Asia? Because of the fast-growing blogosphere in this region. Asia is also an emerging market in terms of Internet content, especially for blogging, multimedia sharing and social networking.
And why blog network? Because a blog network could form an "umbrella" of dedicated bloggers (who are called permanent bloggers for this blog network), who blog on niche topics so the blog reader can easily find various blogs which fit their needs and curiosity.
According to its press release:
PT Asia Blog Network, a new company specialized in blogging and Web 2.0, today unwraps its blog network to be accessed by the public: AsiaBlogging.com. For the first phase, about 70 Weblogs have been opened to the public. Several domains have been arranged, but they are put under a single umbrella: AsiaBlogging.com.
The majority of the blogs are in English, with the rest in the Indonesian language. The topics range from technology and business to sports, science, lifestyle, health, films and music.
As CEO of the network, I wrote that "AsiaBlogging.com is a blog network from Indonesia for Asia. For the first stage, AsiaBlogging.com embraces only Indonesian writers. But we will open the doors for Asian writers to be our permanent bloggers soon". Those who've been following my blog on CNET Asia will know that I recently turned full-time blogger after a long career in journalism.
Some renowned Asian writers, such as Wimar Witoelar, Jenny S. Bev, Ong Hok Chuan, and Andreas Harsono, will also contribute to the blog network as guest bloggers.
The idea behind the network results from the observation that blogs created and managed by Indonesians have been growing vividly. But the bloggers solely manage each blog separately. Our blog network was originally designed to organize them so they can have a better bargaining position.
This is just a start, and I hope this blog network can mean something for Asian bloggers.
Now, AsiaBlogging.com lengthens the record of prominent blog networks, such as Gawker, B5Media, and Weblogs Inc.
Disclaimer: I am the CEO and founder of AsiaBlogging.com.
