R.I.P. Cory Aquino: Live stream of Aquino videos as Filipinos mourn death of People Power icon

UPDATE: Added a video clip of an interview with Cory Aquino conducted in September 2008, six months after she was diagnosed with colon cancer.

Former Philippine President Corazon "Cory" Aquino, who restored democracy in the Philippines during the peaceful 1986 People Power Revolution, passed away this morning at 3.18am at age 76.

GMANews.TV is now showing a live video stream of interviews and videos of the People Power icon.

Here's a video clip of an interview with Aquino conducted in September 2008, six months after she was diagnosed with colon cancer, as part of a special program featuring Philippine Presidents past and present.

Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who is in the US, has declared a week of mourning for Aquino.

Filipinos all over the world had been praying and showing their support for Aquino, who had been confined in the hospital for more than a month battling colon cancer. This support was also extended online, including adding a yellow ribbon to their Twitter avatar. With the news of her death, Corazon Aquino is now one of the top trending topics on Twitter.

Filipinos have also been been posting prayers at this site for Aquino.

Corazon C. Aquino of the Philippines, who was swept into office on a wave of "people power" in 1986 and then faced down a half dozen coup attempts in six years as President, died Saturday. She was 76.

Her son, Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, said his mother died at 3.18am, The Associated Press reported. She learned she had advanced colon cancer last year and had been hospitalized in Manila for more than a month, he said. The cancer, he added, had spread to other organs, and she was too weak to continue chemotherapy.
