Experience the Great Firewall: China Channel Firefox plugin
Posted by RickMThe severity of the Great Firewall is often exaggerated by Western journalists who don't understand it very well. This plugin is certainly a positive step that may help some wrap their heads around it a little better. But make no mistake, censorship in China is still a serious problem that needs to be discussed, and hopefully, tools like this will bring a few more informed opinions to the table.
This will be an especially useful plugin for me since my days here in the Middle Kingdom are winding down, and I'll soon be watching China from afar. Well, sort of afar... More on all that in my next post.

H/t to fellow "CNETer" (that's not a word, is it?) Seth for the tip on this plugin.

Ya scooped me! I saw this on Hao Hao Report (www.haohaoreport.com) a couple days ago and had been meaning to write about it.
As the developers concede, it's really just a hacked version of SwitchProxy - an entirely more useful plugin for Firefox - particularly if you have the "luck" of being on the other side of the Great Firewall and want to get out.
A note to remember about all Web proxies - never, NEVER enter login details while connected to a Web proxy. They are not at all secure, and your passwords can be scooped up anywhere along the proxy line by the "helpful" computers acting as proxies.

Good point Ryan.
That's way important.
Have not used switch proxy, but it makes sense that there's a tool that does the opposite -- allowing people in China to use a foreign proxy.
