Feedburner blocked (temporarily)--Feedsky pees pants in excitement

Posted by RickM
Reports are coming in that Feedburner was blocked temporarily overnight here in China, causing thousands of anxious bloggers (myself included) to check it out with their own two eyes. Could it be true? Much to everyone's relief, the outage seems to have been temporary, and Feedburner looks to be back in Sino-business. But at the same time, we can't help but ponder that horrible question:

What if Feedburner was really blocked here in China? And blocked for good.

Feedburner: Temporarily blocked in China. And back again!

Well, we'd be left with the Chinese alternative, which is Feedsky. Early testing shows that Feedsky is every bit as good as Feedburner, without some of the extra features. It delivers an RSS feed just as well as Feedburner. Just don't lick this Chinese version, or you may die of lead poisoning.

I kid, I kid... I know, terrible joke...

In any case, I did a small piece on Feedburner and Feedsky a little while back. So if you'd like some more info, be sure to check that out.

Feedsky: The Chinese Feedburner

Meanwhile the folks over at Feedsky, if they were up late enough to notice the outage, must have been dancing for joy in their cubicles, enjoying their status as the number one RSS feed service in China--even if it was just for a few hours!

Whatever they were doing, I'm sure they have a hangover this morning because Feedburner looks to be back and Feedsky is number 2 again.

"And we were soooo close!"

By the way, you're always welcome to subscribe to my RSS feed here at Little Red Blog. No middle-man feed service here. Just the pure stuff.

August 31 UPDATE:
Ryan at Lost Laowai reports he's still having problems. Fons at China Herald says the same, though one of his readers has this to say:
[Feedburner is] unavailable through China Telecom. We've got a China Netcom (Beijing) line and there are no issues with Feedburner.
