I really enjoyed Mobile Ojisan's recent post on QR code, and how these little wacky little graphics are multiplying like rabbits all over Japan. They kinda look like a chess board that's been in a car accident. But oddly enough you can take a picture of them on your phone, and it will direct you to a certain webpage.
Useless? Maybe...
Cool? Definitely!
Since reading his article, I came across an interesting web service here in China called Panghulu which uses that very same QR code to help cell phone users subscribe to a website's RSS feed (Source: China Web Review).
So here you go Matsushita-san. Using Panghulu I've made QR codes for the both of us! Our very own QR codematrixes matricies graphics that our readers can use to subscribe to our blogs here on CNET Asia:
I think mine sorta looks like a fish...
The user will need to be able download and install some files to their phone first of course, and there are instructions on how to do that here (sorry, Chinese language only).
It might take a bit longer for QR to take off here in China than in cutting-edge Japan. But with 500 million active cell phone accounts in China, I'm sure companies looking to capitalize on QR technology will find a market for their wares somewhere!
