Around North Borneo without a passport!
Posted by AnakBruneiAs far back as I can remember, travel between Brunei and Miri, Sarawak, would always involve four stamps on my passport--two out and two in. More recently, when driving to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah became convenient, the trip would involve 24 stamps, which was then reduced to 16. For frequent travelers of this route, a passport renewal would be in order at least twice a year!
A few years ago, there was word of the possibility of just using the smart identification cards issued by respective Governments as a substitute for passports. Well, finally, there looks like light at the end of the tunnel for the bane of overland cross-border travel between Brunei and the East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak.
