The first Brunei ICT Career Day (BICT) organized by InfoCom Federation Brunei (IFB) took place over last weekend. The event was aimed at generating more local certified ICT professionals. The response was overwhelming with over 1,000 visitors and a total of 685 registered users who intended on becoming certified ICT professionals over the two-day exposition. Among the major companies taking part in the expo were TelBru, Brunei Shell Petroleum, IBM, Oracle, Royal Brunei Airlines, as well as some of the local banks.

Deputy Minister at Prime Minister's Office Dato Eussoff Agaki giving his remarks.

IFB's main focus in organizing this event was to provide assistance to local job seekers and to collect data. The data collected from this exhibition will be stored electronically in a central database for participating ICT companies which may seek suitable personnel to fill up vacancies immediately or in the future. The data will also be used to produce analytical reports which will be shared with relevant parties including government agencies and statutory authorities to enable them to identify which courses should begin immediately. It will also identify students to encourage them to register at training centers to begin their path to certification.
