Two more Ultrabooks are coming our way this year and at least one of them appears to be even more anorexic than usual.
Ahead of CES 2012, LG has released more details about its upcoming Super Ultrabook series, which appears to consist of a 13.3- and a 14-inch model. They are, of course, extremely slim, with the 13.3-inch Z330 having a uniform thickness of 14.7mm and weighing just 1.21kg. This would make it the slimmest Ultrabook in the market, though given that we have been told to expect up to 50 Ultrabooks at CES, it's too early to declare it a winner.
Besides the predictably sleek form factor, the Z330 is touted to boot up in less than 10 seconds and resume from standby mode in 2 seconds. This is achieved by a combination of its built-in SSD (120GB or 256GB) and LG's proprietary Super Speed Boot technology.
The other specifications are similar to Ultrabooks in the market, including 4GB of RAM, a 1,366 x 768-pixel display and an Intel Core-i processor with integrated graphics. However, we also noted that the Z330 appears to have a mini-RJ45 LAN port, along with a USB 3.0 port and HDMI.
The larger 14-inch model, the Z430 has the added option of a hybrid hard drive, which boosts its storage capacity to a maximum of 500GB (together with a 16GB SSD cache). There's also the choice of a 128GB SSD instead, if you need the performance. The Z430 weighs slightly more than the Z330 at 1.5kg and is a bit thicker at 19.9mm.
With today's announcement, LG is adding more fuel to the Ultrabook fever that awaits us next week at CES 2012. Besides these Super Ultrabooks, LG is also planning to launch two 3D laptops for home entertainment and gaming and a 23-inch all-in-one (AIO) PC equipped with a 3D display.
