LG unveils world's thinnest 3D OLED TV

OLED TVs are nothing new since Sony launched its XEL-1 back in 2007. Still, the LG prototype on display in the upcoming IFA tradeshow in Berlin is a completely different beauty altogether. First of all, this Korean entry is a sizeable 31-incher claiming the title of "world's thinnest" OLED TV, measuring just 2.9mm thin. Secondly, this sleek panel supports 3D playback just like the LG LEX8, LEX9 and PX950N 3D TV also on showcase at the September 3 trade fair. The only problem is that this is one drool-worthy display with a price tag that's probably going to be tough to stomach. How do we know? The chaebol's 15-inch EL9500 OLED is already retailing for US$2,500 in the US. You can bag a 50-inch Panasonic 3D plasma TV for this kind of money there.
