LG has just announced its new LW5700-series Cinema 3D TVs, together with updates on the companion passive 3D eyewear. The LW5700 panels utilize the same film patterned retarder technology featured in the LW5600- and LW6500-series TVs unveiled in CES to deliver flicker-free 3D pictures. These Cinema 3D TVs are also the first in the home A/V industry to receive the "flicker-free" certification awarded by Intertek and TUV European safety and regulatory bodies, ensuring greater eye comfort for extended 3D viewing.

The passive 3D goggles for the Cinema 3D TVs are also notably lighter at just 15g compared with their active shutter equivalents weighing between 30g and 60g each. LG also claims the TV offers brighter 3D visuals and wider viewing angle, in addition to Smart TV Web content streaming and Magic Motion remote control. More details below.

Other key LW5700 specifications
  • LED-edgelit panel with local dimming
  • 100Hz refresh rate
  • 2D-to-3D conversion
  • 3D Light Boost
  • DLNA
  • Digital video recording (DVR)-ready
  • Wi-Fi-ready
  • Energy-saving design
