Let the wind make you a scarf

Perhaps people will care more about the environment if we can harness the energy of nature to our direct benefit instead of sprouting obscure and distant concepts such as melting icebergs and methane emissions. Using the power of the wind (not the kind which results in methane emissions), London-based design studio Merel Karhof has created a machine which produces tube scarves.
The Wind Knitting Factory is a cylinder that weaves yarn into fashion wear. As long as there's wind, this machine will continue to produce scarves tirelessly without the need for any other energy source. You can check out a video of how it works here.
While it's a working design, this device has not been commercialized yet. Still, we look forward to a day when an entire outfit can be made using nothing but wind and a little ingenuity.

Tracking laptop and PC trends since 2005, Darius Chang may have been knee deep in bits and bytes but is certainly not a binary person. Under that big and soft exterior holds a marshmallow core which dotes on his god-daughters and nephew. Suspected of ADD, his interests span disparate fields such as sustainability studies, diving, sports, politics, etc. A true jack of all trades, but master of one (maybe two).
