Chinese authorities are apparently removing iPads from retail outlets in at least one city.
This came after a Chinese court rejected Apple's lawsuit that Proview, a Chinese monitor manufacturer, had infringed on its trademark. It also exposes Apple to a potential US$1.5 billion countersuit from Proview.
Although Apple has appealed against the ruling, it seems that officials in the city of Shijiazhuang have begun confiscating the product from retail stores. While this is currently only happening in one Chinese city, it's unclear if the move will be extended to other parts of the country. Some stores are reportedly voluntarily removing the tablet from shelves, though they will still offer the device for sale when asked.
