That's according to iMore (formerly Tipb), which citing "sources who have been reliable in the past", says that's the day Apple will be holding a special event to take the wraps off the iPad 3.
That date matches up pretty nicely with the more general "first week of March", reported last week by All Things Digital, and with Apple picking a Wednesday as its go-to date for last year's unveiling of the iPad 2.
As 9to5mac notes, iMore correctly posted the October release date of the iPhone 4S in early August.
Spec-wise, iMore piles on with some rumored checklist items we already knew about, like a 2048 x 1536 pixel display and 4G LTE networking. The blog also suggests that the device will, in fact, sport a quad-core processor--something that came under scrutiny last week with a report in The Verge suggesting that Apple might stick with two cores instead.
The iPad 2 made its debut at a special event in downtown San Francisco on March 2, going on sale a week and a half later. A handful of reports have suggested that whatever device Apple rolls out next, it follow a similar pattern to what the company did with the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S, where there are simply improvements on an existing hardware model. You can catch up on those and other whispers on our iPad 3 rumor roundup.

Another version of a worthless and useless iPad that is faster more processor power but NO FLASH ! What a rip off!
Because number one the companies designing these tablets don't want to do it. 2 Cell carriers don't wan it, they make more money in data usage than they do in actual voice. 3 what sense does it make to have a 10" wide phone. No need for it. Wifi is not available everywhere that is why cell carriers offer 3G to the tablet users, and tmobile does allow txt messaging on tablets cause they see they can make money off of that, but the most ist made off of data, and besides you want to use voice and sms get google talk. and there are apps that allow you to "sms" with your 3G sim card.
THERE IS NO JUSTICE TO IPAD2 3G WIFI Users It is so disgusting after I bought my new 64GB iPad 2 3G Wifi. It could be nonsense to have a gadget that has a Sim card but you are not allowed for incoming and outgoing call and SMS. It is my sad experience about Apple as they became a business oriented not a user oriented. I think there is no really justice in this as you have your SIM and mobile phone connection in it but there is no call and SMS. I thought before that iPad2 3G Wifi is the same as the other tablet brand that they could have incoming and outgoing call but Apple is a disgusting unfriendly to their users. To inform the Apple fanatics and who are planning to buy iPad 2 3G Wifi; you must have to know that incoming and outgoing calls and SMS is not allowed in this stuff. This is just like an impotent person who has its complete feature but unable to perform a job. Apple must have to revised this. They must create an Aps that would allow incoming and outgoing call to give justice to all Apple users of iPad2 3G Wifi. What is the sense of having a 3G Sim capability if it wont allow calls and SMS.
