There're plenty of flat-panel display manufacturers in the consumer and enterprise markets, but only a handful of them own in-house screen production facilities. LG is one of those companies which currently supply premium In-Plane Switching (IPS) LCD panels assembled from their own plants. In LG's case, its factory-minted panels are used in selected computer monitors and HDTVs and are well-regarded for their true wide viewing angles and strong saturated colors. This arrangement is also extended to the Korean chaebol's plasma TVs which are based on internally developed panels, proprietary video technologies, etc.

To differentiate its offerings from the competition, LG is rolling out more borderless TVs that offer a flush front across its entire lineup. These include the PQ60- and PS80-series plasmas, as well as the upcoming SL80- and SL90-series LCDs slated for a late November launch across Asia. Another key proposition unique to LG is onboard DivX HD and MKV file (think Blu-ray movie rips) support, which enables up to 1080p video playback out-of-the-box.
