Hot Wheels Video Racer lets kids record the action

I'm not a fan of Hot Wheels but I might buy Mattel's latest tin can cars, the Video Racer. The vehicle has a VGA video camera mounted at the front to record the thrills and spills of it spinning round the track. There is even a small LCD at the undercarriage which lets you play back the clips.

There is no external memory storage option, but the Video Racer is able to capture up to 12 minutes of footage. There is also an optional case which will allow you to clip the racing recorder to a skateboard or bicycle.

Mattel is also supplying a simple-to-use video editor with the Video Racer which allows users to edit, add sound and effects to the clips.

According to the representative in the video above, the Video Racer will be available in fall, which should be September, in the US. It will retail for US$59.99.
