BARCELONA--The nuvifone A50 runs on Android 1.6, but you won't be able to spot it unless you're very familiar with the operating system. The reason being Garmin-Asus has almost completely reskinned the user interface. Like the M10, we like what we saw on the software so far. The A50 supports Google Street View and it lets you add location information on your text messages. It also synchronizes with Microsoft Exchange, so that's good news for business users. Enough rambling. Click on the video for a quick look at the device, and check out a few hands-on pictures after the break.

Asus-Garmin being a unique player in the mobile business should NOT just follow the trend of offering eye-candy handsets, to capitalize their strength in PND, and since device like this will be used on the road/outdoors, their products should have the BUILD-QUALITY for ruggedness and leave a lasting impression to consumers about their product/s in the long run. imagine if all that geo-tagging data entries and all those on-the-fly gps+pda functionalities just gets lost because of that device just stops functioning while on the road. this is one aspect that wpuld set them apart and serve as a differentiating factor among mobile handset manufacturers, remember Garmin was¤tly a PND specialist before Asus could offer it a fair advantage to the mobile computing world.
