Exploding car burns Canon 7D, leaves memory card intact

Ever wondered what an exploding car could do to a humble digital camera?

Swedish photographer Petra Hall's fiance found out the hard way when his MG TF exploded, taking his MacBook Air, Canon EOS 7D and 24-105mm lens with it.

A good ad for the memory card in question? Undoubtedly. The images on the card and the data from the MacBook's hard drive were all recovered, but the rest of the equipment didn't come out so fortunate; the magnesium alloy 7D looks destined for the scrap heap...or the desktops of Nikon fans.

For the car-spotters, here's how the MG fared.
