DocHaven, by Holy Mackerel Software, is a Document Management System. Think of it as a 'virtual library' for your documents. You can run it on one standalone laptop (Macintosh, Windows or Linux) or on a network with thousands of users, dozens of local FTP servers, and one central MySQL index. Instead of storing your documents in an ever-increasing number of folders on your hard drive, you store them in a library on a shared central computer, booking them out and checking them back in.

Clicking simple icons, DocHaven users can create standard document templates, keep multiple versions, 'Take Out', 'Copy Out' and 'Put Away'. Documents are stored in Projects that can hold any number of files and folders from any program. Users can log in over the Internet and take out only those documents they have access to, with all access logged. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.
