XLR8 MACh Speed Control X 1.0

In general, the backside caches on XLR8 G3 and G4 upgrades in Beige G3 (and higher) machines are automatically enabled by the hardware, but may be set slightly slower than possible, and may come up with Write-Through on. The exception to this is G4 upgrades in Beige machines, in which the caches are not enabled by the hardware or the OS.

With the XLR8 MACh Speed Control X software installed, the backside cache on all G3s and G4s (in Beige and higher machines) will be enabled at a processor to cache ratio of 2:1 with Write-Through off.

Note: Some non-XLR8 ZIF caches will never be enabled by hardware or the OS. However, as long as the cache on your machine has a PowerPC G3 or G4 processor and it has a cache that is 1MB and can run at a processor to cache ratio of 2:1, this kernel extension will enable those caches, as well.

Do not install this software if your ZIF upgrade cannot run its processor speed to cache ratio at 2:1. The software will crash and Mac OS X will fail to launch.
