i think sony is a more reputed brand out of the two and i think it has some beautiful gagets on the way which showerly arev trendseting and innovative.

I'm not sure it's fair to compare a 46" vs 40".
But the Samsung TV is definitely more "sexy" and give more options to place in your home.
