Lenovo ThinkPad X300 vs. Apple MacBook Air

The ThinkPad X300 may not be as pretty, but it's certainly a lot more functional. On the other hand, the MacBook Air's design is simply revolutionary, but its features are stripped down. Which would you vote for: Beauty or brawn?

Macs are just more robust in the operating system and there's no way a PC comes close.

both are expensive systems due to their thinness & having the cost passed on component manufacturers who struggle to produce ever thin device. mac-air has set the pace though that lookalike pc such as the X300 only confuses themselves for being an ultraportable but not being sure what core features are really needed to achieve such feat, thin.

In this case I'd have to go for the Thinkpad. Though it's not as elegant as the Macbook Air, it's way too equipped with features which for me sets a great edge. If only Macbook Air had an optical drive as well as a removable battery then I might have considered it as a clear winner in this category. For now I choose functionality over aesthetics...

the X300 holds an unfair advantage here comparing to Mac-Air with their common use of SSD but that's all. since you can get the needed connectivity options on a Macbook, a slim notebook with 13-inch screen but uses HDD instead, at a much lower price.

I still don't think both products are marketed towards the same person. The X300 is enough to be stand-alone notebook or a second computer while the Air is more of a second notebook or third computer. The X300 is more for the a no-frills business road warrior. On the other hand, the Air caters to the casual user (since I don't think the specs make any heavy user happy) who wants to travel light and in style. It might look as if the Air goes on looks alone but let's remember how strong Leopard is as an OS. I would personally prefer the stripped down Air just to escape from Vista's annoying security check boxes that you encounter at every turn.
