DNG is an open RAW format which Adobe created in 2004. It is similar in function to the CRW and NEF formats which Canon and Nikon use, respectively. Adobe has been trying to get other camera manufacturers to adopt this RAW standard, though response is somewhat lukewarm for now. From what we gathered, some of Pentax, Ricoh, Samsung and Leica's cameras employ this format for RAW picture capture.
