Is a full-HD 32-incher overkill for games?

Nov 3, 2009

Question on Home Entertainment:

Does it make sense to buy a 32-inch full-HD LCD for PS3 gaming? I've been told that I won't be able to appreciate 1080p on a 32-incher. If this is true, should I just get a 720p panel then?

What you've suggested is true as far as film-based content, such as Hollywood movies, is concerned. However, when it comes to the razor-sharp graphics and text offered by full-HD games, screen resolution does have a major impact on picture quality even for smaller panels. The higher pixel density ensures minimal jaggies (jagged edges) which translates to smoother graphics for the best gaming experience.

We would suggest visiting your local electronics stores for comparison. Try to convince the salesman to hook up an Xbox 360 or PS3 to the panels to test this out.
