Will a US-bought Blu-ray player work with my TV?

Oct 21, 2009

Question on Home Entertainment:

Can a Sony KLV-40X350A purchased in the Middle East display HD movies on Blu-ray purchased in the US using a Sony Blu-ray Player also purchased in the US?

Both Blu-ray movie discs and players from the US are based on the NTSC video format. For a display, such as the Sony KLV-40X350A, to work with the content and equipment mentioned, you will need to ensure that your panel supports NTSC playback. Some HDTVs retailing in Asia also come with multi-system function and will readily support NTSC as well as PAL programs.

A simple solution will be to contact a relevant Sony office to find out whether the Bravia TVs sold in the Middle East support NTSC.
