The main difference between the 21-megapixel Canon EOS 5D Mark II and the 18-megapixel EOS 7D is the sensor sizes. The former uses a 35mm full-frame sensor while the EOS 7D employs an APS-C-sized sensor. Typically, this means that the EOS 5D Mark II can produce better picture quality due to the larger surface area of the sensor for light to fall on. But bear in mind that other factors such as the image processing algorithm plays a part in delivering good shots, too.

Another difference between the two dSLRs is the continuous shooting rate. The EOS 7D can fire off at 8 frames per second (fps) while the EOS 5D Mark II can manage only 3.9 fps.
