Should I get the Sony Alpha dual-lens kit?

Jun 23, 2009

Question on Digicams:

I'm considering buying an entry-level dSLR camera and have narrowed it down to the Sony Alpha DSLR-A200 because of its low price.

Can you tell me more about each lens included in the Alpha 200 kits, the SAL 18-70mm and SAL 75-300mm? Is it worth the extra S$300 for the dual-lens kit instead of getting just the 18-70mm?

For more information on the Sony Alpha DSLR-A200, you may want to refer to our First Look video here.

As for whether it is worth the price to get a dual-lens kit as opposed to the normal single optics package, I think it is up to your needs. The SAL 75-300mm lens is great if you want to take pictures of wildlife or subjects that are far away.

However, the A200 was announced last year, and recently Sony introduced another entry-level dSLR, the Alpha DSLR-A230. You may want to check with your local retailers to see when the shooter will be available.
